TEES TRANSPORTER BRIDGE

IMPORTANT READING FOR ABSEILERS

Your abseil check-in is at the Visitor Centre on the Middlesbrough side of the river Tees TS2 1PL - Please note that the Transporter is Bridge itself is closed on Sundays so please check that your route does not involve crossing the bridge 

Parking is available on site at the Pay and Display car park, there is also free roadside parking on the streets nearby

 

An average level of fitness is all that is required as you will need to climb 9 flights of stairs to the abseil point, your guide will ensure that the stairs are ascended at a comfortable pace

 

If you have a mobility problem there is a glass lift which will take you onto the bridge - we would however encourage you if within your limitations to take the stairs as this will prepare you gradually for the height exposure 

 

at 165ft this is the tallest structure abseil in the North East

Clothing and Footwear

it is usually a few degrees cooler on the bridge with the extra wind chill so you should wear some warm clothing and bring waterproofs if there is a risk of rain. Your footwear should be sturdy, secure and comfortable for climbing the stairs, no high heels!

Timing

You will need to check in 15mins before your allocated time and will be on site up to 2hrs

 

Weight Limit

Our weight limit is 18st including your clothing and footwear you will be wearing for your abseil

 

Physical or Medical Issues

You must notify us of any issues which may effect you when abseiling - if you are unsure, talk to your GP

 

Personal Items

Any items such as keys, money, mobile phones, cameras etc which you wish to take with you, must be carried in a pocket with a Zip / Button / Velcro, for safety reasons items must stay in your pocket whilst on the bridge EVEN A COIN CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY 

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR SAFETY REASONS WE DO NOT ALLOW CAMERAS, VIDEO CAMERAS OR MOBILE PHONES TO BE USED ON THE BRIDGE, ANY LOOSE ITEMS SUCH AS PHONES AND KEYS MUST BE SECURED IN A CLOSABLE POCKET. ANYTHING ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED FROM THE BRIDGE PRESENTS A SERIOUS RISK TO ANYONE ON THE GROUND AND FOR THIS REASON WE MUST ASK YOU TO LEAVE WITHOUT REFUND IF YOU ATTEMPT TO TAKE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS
